Current Boat Location
El Salvador
Currently the Boat is located 2 hours SE of San Salvador in El Salvador, Central America. Located at Latitude 13.20 N, Longitude 88.59 W, the boat is anchored in a lagoon, in the shadow of a volcano, outside of the luxury resort, Bahia Del Sl. The entrance is through surf, and an employee of the hotel comes out to greet you and guide you in through shallow waters.
The hotel allows cruisers to use its facilities, so we have free run of the bar, pool, and access to the beach side of the resort. Many beach restaurants, serving native food, line the beaches, so there is ready access to cheap beer and food. Surrounding the lagoon are numerous fishing villages, where locals still live in thatch huts, with corrugated steel roofs.
Far enough south to be out of the summer hurricane formation zone, it has become home to numerous cruisers waiting out the summer tropical heat. Since it is a home for El Salvador's Navy, it is safe to leave the boat for extended trips in land. The Mayan Ruins in Honduras, the ancient city of Antigua, Guatemala, numerous volcanoes (active & in active), and the rain forest; are all just a few hours, to a few days away.
Anchorage in Costa Del Sol, El Salvador, ouside of the luxury resort Bahia Del Sol.
Next Stop
Plans are to leave the end of September, for Costa Rica, stopping at numerous anchorages for diving & fishing. The first destination is Playa de CoCo in Costa Rica. A low-key anchorage, it is a favorite stopping place for cruisers, giving them access to the interior of the country
